John Halmo (son of Michael Halmo & Julianna Olah) was born on January 9, 1874 in Turesanka (Turcianky), Slovakia. He married Maria Dvonc of Nagy Belicz on November 8, 1899.
John Halmo immigrated to the U.S. from Hamburg on the ship Graf Waldersee and arrived at the port of New York on May 8, 1903. A few months later, his wife and son John J. Halmo joined him. They landed in New York on September 19, 1903 on the ship Auguste Victoria.
John Halmo and Maria Dvonc had the following children:

Anton Joseph Halmo (son of Michael Halmo & Anna Skolka) was born May 11, 1905, possibly in Brodzany, and died September 17, 1945 in Windsor Ontario Canada. He landed at New York's Ellis Island on July 14, 1922 on the ship Rotterdam. He returned to Slovakia for a few years. On June 8, 1928, he arrived at Quebec, Canada on the Empress of Australia. In 1932, he married Anna Janci (daughter of Stephan Janci & Maria Pudis). Anton Halmo and his wife Anna, were the founders of Halmo Jewellers in Windsor, Canada. They had the following children:
